The island of Mallorca offers countless places and adventures to discover on board a Nautic Adventure charter boat in Mallorca. Although it is true that much of its coast is urbanized, it is no less true that the Mallorcan coast also offers us many totally solitary and little-frequented areas, ideal for those sailors eager to find peace and tranquility. Discover Mallorca on a rental boat.
Its coves are of a fascinating beauty, but they also hide dangers to which we must pay attention. It is not uncommon for sudden weather or wind changes to quickly change safety and anchoring conditions in a cove. We must be alert and anchor without hesitation in case it becomes dangerous to stay in an anchor that perhaps a few hours ago seemed very comfortable and safe. At Nautic Adventure we offer you this information so that you know all the possibilities that boat rentals in Mallorca offers you. And on this website you have all the information about the ports of Mallorca
Sailing in the Bay of Palma towards Cabo Blanco
They are areas with a lot of boat traffic, so we must be very careful. We must be especially attentive to the depth probe since many areas close to the nautical and even these do not sink beyond 2 meters. With winds from the Southwest and sailing near the coast we must be attentive to the waves and be very careful with the funds. There are no safe havens in this area, but the depth of the probe increases as we get closer to Cap Blanc. To spend the night we must reach the large coves located in the Cala Pi area. Discover Mallorca on a rental boat.
Cala Pi
It is a cove without too much protection from which we must leave immediately if the weather worsens. Under normal conditions it will be perfect for us to spend the night. In summer it is very crowded and we should use stern moorings and drop two anchors if we have them. It is very beautiful with transparent waters and turquoise tones. In the adjacent urbanization we will find a supermarket, pharmacy and other shops and restaurants. It is a perfect point to take a break on our journey to the east of the island or back to Palma. If you get a space to anchor it is a delight and you will love it. Due to its small size it is perfect for motorboat rentals and rib rentals in Mallorca.
Sail from Cala Pi to Cabo Salinas
A beautiful coast where there are, with crystal clear waters and white sand beaches, surrounded by green pine forests that contrast with the turquoise waters. There are no safe guards at all winds and although the coves are from film, it is convenient to approach Isla Gabina and Redona. There are uneven and variable probe bottoms, so we must remain vigilant about the probe. The famous Es Trenc beach is incredible and has 5 kilometers of fine white sand flanked only by pine trees. Be sure to take a bath in the beautiful Cala de Es caragol, an authentic gem of this part of the coast. To the East of the Colonia de San Jordi we can locate other places to spend the night, between the Islets of Guardis and the one of Moltona. Approaches always need a good degree of attention. Es Carbó beach is spectacular. All these beaches are very close to the town of Colonia de Sant Jordi where you can disembark and find supermarkets, restaurants and everything you may need.
From Cabo Salinas to Cala d’Or and Porto Petro
We will find numerous small coves of undoubted beauty in which the most fun is to explore them with the auxiliary to be able to get closer to the whimsical forms carved in the rock. Cala Tugores, Cala Marmol, S’Almonia are examples of this. Highly recommended are Es calo des Moro, Cala Mondragó and Sa Marador that are opposite each other. Just after is Cala Figuera, a beautiful fishing village that has a natural harbor with a language of the sea and that impresses everyone who comes by boat because it is wonderful.
In the port of Porto Petro we can anchor in buoys or inside the yacht club. This is also a very beautiful fishing village and its bay is very protected. In Cala d’Or, we can also anchor and moor but it is more crowded in summer and a perfect port for boat rental in Cala d’Or. In these towns you can disembark and buy provisions and take advantage to eat in one of its several restaurants. Above all, we recommend those of Cala Figuera and Porto Petro, where we will eat fresh fish and extraordinary paellas of all kinds, among many other things.
To Porto Cristo passing through Portocolom
In this section of the route you will find several incredible coves such as Mitjana (not to be confused with that of Menorca of the same name) or Cala Sa Nau. They have it all, serpentine arms, color, transparency, and little beaches at their end. Upon arrival at the port of Portocolom, we will be surprised by the security transmitted by its anchorage. Its gray mud bottom allows an excellent grip on the anchor. It is an ideal place to shelter from a storm and for ctamaran rentals in Portocolom. It has everything you need to stock up on provisions, it has a huge offer of restaurants facing the sea and it is a beautiful fishing port. You have buoys at a very reasonable price or the mooring in the port. It is an ideal port for catamaran rentals in Mallorca
Until we reach Porto Cristo, we will travel along a lot of the coast during which we will see quite urbanized stretches, very interesting coves and almost virgin areas, all of them exposed to a change of wind that forces us to weigh anchor and go to sea at midnight in search of places safer. Simple thing since we have several ports with perfect marinas to spend the night in complete safety and tranquility.
Spectacular cave area
Although you will also find them throughout Mallorca, especially on this stretch of coast, numerous cave formations appear due to the morphology of the terrain. Like the famous ones in Porto Cristo, they can be spectacular. Near Cala Petita is the Cova des Xuetes and in Cala Blanca we will find the des Pont. The surroundings of Cala Falcó are a real Gruyere cheese, like those of the pirate or the Cova del Moro. You will find many of these caves along the entire coastline and we recommend you visit them, but with the appropriate security measures, as some can be dangerous if you do not know them or do not know how you should deal with their visit.
Sailing from Porto Cristo to Cala Ratjada
In Porto Cristo we will have the possibility to dock at the municipal dock with the consequent cost savings or in the sports marina, or even anchor in front of the beach. The beaches of Cala Millor and El Arenal are too touristy areas and are not the most suitable for visiting by sailboat, it is better to use that time in any of the other wonderful coves. It is not a bad idea to anchor in Calas like Cala Moll or Cala Pedruscada, although there are more beautiful ones. In the port of Cala Ratjada, it is also possible to anchor protected from the north and west winds. This is the last point where you can enter the port until you reach the Port of Alcúdia. As an alternative to mooring in the port, a few minutes away from navigation we will find a beautiful place to anchor and spend the day and even the night except in the north wind. This is Cala Agulla, a place you have to visit. Discover Mallorca on a rental boat.
A nice route to spend the day: Capdepera to Cabo Farrutx
Except for Cala Moltó, it is better not to consider spending the night in this coastal area because it is not safe to spend the night, but you should not stop visiting it either because it is spectacular. Waters with infinite colors in the range of blues and greens. Quite a show. From this coast we are a few miles from Ciudadela (Menorca), in total only 21 miles separate us from the island of Menorca. In the surroundings of Cap de Freu, we can find a paradise for divers with caves and underwater tunnels. To the north of Punta Foguera the entrance to the famous Cathedral cave is hidden and only recommended to experienced athletes.
Sailing From Cabo Farrutx to Alcudia and Puerto de Pollensa
This navigation offers some not too safe but usable anchoring points and after approaching Puerto de San Pere, we will head towards the port of Ca’n Picafort. The coastal rocks have been replaced by increasingly open beaches and spaces. We are fully in the Bay of Alcudia, where we can reach the Alcudiamar marina to anchor well protected. Discover Mallorca on a rental boat
From Alcudia, we can find another interesting place to anchor, such as the Isleta de Aucanada, in which we must be careful to definitively fix the boat using a second anchor or ends to land due to the proximity of rocks near the surface.
In Coll Baix we find an ideal anchoring place for diving. It is an open cove to spend only the day but very pleasant. Another option is to anchor in Puerto de Pollensa, a beautiful and perfect place to spend the night and a nice day. It has an excellent and modern marina. In the port of Pollensa you have all kinds of restaurants from fast food to fresh fish, paellas and all the typical Mallorcan dishes. The walk through the port is a delight to discover. It is highly recommended for the motor yacht rentals in Mallorca.
Towards the Fabulous Cape of Formentor
n the area of the natural area of La Victoria there are also beautiful places to anchor, but we must pay close attention to the sounding, especially if our draft is 2 meters or more. We are in an excellent area to practice diving and surprise us with its underwater reliefs.
In the Bahía de Pollensa is the small but quiet Cocodrilo port, also known as Marina Bonaire. There are some beautiful coves some of which seem closed by buoys by the owner of a nearby chalet, apparently making anchoring impossible. Surely you do not know the law of coasts and the most basic notions on maritime law. But we can anchor in front of the Formentor beach using a buoy from the buoy field, which is very close to the beautiful Island of Formentor. An incredible place to discover it with the gulet rentals in Mallorca.
The Tramuntana begins
Undoubtedly, from our point of view, one of the most amazing coasts in Mallorca, but nothing suitable to do any anchoring. Can Mistral is more than problematic and we must go many miles until we can protect ourselves in the Port of Sóller. If it is good, enjoy all the rich landscapes and take in the delight of such beautiful cliffs and impressive cuts and nooks and crannies. The port of Sóller is a beautiful place to take advantage of and go ashore to discover its fantastic promenade and its fantastic highly recommended restaurants.
Cala Figuera is a possible night anchor in good weather a short distance from Formentor. Cala Sa Calobra is worth visiting although in summer we will only see tourists who come by land to spend the day, but from the sea it is amazing. After Puerto Sóller come Na Foradada, Cala Deiá, Cala Valldemossa, the Banyalbufar area, and finally the Dragonera natural protection island that ends the tramuntana coast. To the east of this island there are two possible anchorages. Discover Mallorca on a rental boat.
Sailing between San Telmo and Cabo Figuera
Port d’Andratx is an interesting bay with beautiful places although not as spectacular as others described above. But Nautic Adventure recommends you spend some time discovering it and going ashore. It has a very beautiful promenade where you can take a walk and stretch your legs while you discover some of the best restaurants on the island to eat fish, paellas and everything else you want. There are also supermarkets to supply the boat. You can moor at the sailing club or on the state-owned dock, which is cheaper but does not have services such as the sailing club, which is a maritime wonder. An ideal place for sailboat rental in Mallorca.
Cala Figuera to Palma
Be sure to visit the Cala de Portals Vells (Playa del Mago) with a very beautiful color of waters and also a good shelter to spend the night except with winds from the east. Halfway to Palma is the Ses Illetes beach, which is a good place to anchor with a beautiful beach. In Cala Mayor there are also numerous anchoring possibilities, sometimes protected by an islet, such as in the case of Ses Illetes, but always bothered during the day by jet skis and motorboats due to the urbanization of this part of the coast. And from that area we are a few minutes from the port of Palma, the starting or ending point of many of the island’s rental boats.
